Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has questioned the Election Commission over the unusual rise in voter numbers in Maharashtra ahead of the elections. Addressing the media, he stated, “We need the voter list of the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in Maharashtra to understand the new additions of voters in the state.”

Raising concerns, he added, “The number of voters added in just five months is equal to what was added in five years. This number is as large as the population of Himachal Pradesh. Where did these voters come from? Who are they?”

Gandhi further claimed that a detailed study of voter data by the opposition has revealed multiple irregularities. “Our teams have been working on this. We have analyzed the voter lists and found many discrepancies,” he said, emphasizing that the opposition parties that contested the last Maharashtra elections are united in seeking answers from the Election Commission.
