 Shivraj Singh said, “Today when BJP MPs were protesting at Makar Dwar, Rahul came. The security personnel told him to use the space on the side to go out. But Rahul Gandhi deliberately and thoughtfully reached among our MPs and not only did he come in the middle but also indulged in pushing and hooliganism. Our elderly, poor, decent MP Pratap Sarangi ji fell down and due to the fall, he suffered a serious injury on his forehead. He was first admitted to the ICU and his treatment is still going on.”

Union Minister Shivraj Chouhan said, “Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi just did a press conference. We thought they would apologise for what they did today. But they did not. I did not understand why they did a press conference. Their press conference displayed their arrogance… I have been seeing his behaviour. But what he (Rahul Gandhi) did today is unimaginable by a civilised society… Today when BJP MPs were opposing at the Makar Dwar, Rahul Gandhi came there. Security personnel told them to use the other space on the side to enter. But he came there on purpose…”

Rahul Gandhi said, “The main issue started with a case against Adani in the US. BJP’s strategy was that this issue should not be discussed in the House. After that Amit Shah’s statement came. We say that BJP is anti-Dalit, their Home Minister said that directly in the House. We were going to the House, their MPs were standing at the gate to stop us. The main issue is that Modi ji’s friend Adani has a case against him in the US, he does not want a discussion on this.”

Om Birla over MP Phangnon Konyak’s allegation of misbehaviour against Rahul Gandhi and states that the allegation made by her is “entirely fabricated and devoid of facts and is a malicious attempt at belittling the integrity of Leader of Opposition.”

We protested everyday for 14 days, and the main topic was the Adani issue. But during the debate on 75 years of adoption of the Constitution, Union Home Minister Amit Shah out of nowhere insulted Dr BR Ambedkar. He said ‘if you (opposition) had taken the name of God so many times instead of Ambedkar, you would have got heaven for seven lives’. If this is the mindset of a political party or a leader, then it is condemnable,” he said.

BJP lied about Ambedkar and Nehru, said Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge. “Yesterday, we did a press conference and presented information about a lot of things. The remarks that are being given by PM Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah about Dr BR Ambedkar are unfortunate. Without presenting the facts, he (Amit Shah) did a press conference yesterday. He should take a look at the facts first before abusing Pandit JL Nehru and insulting Dr BR Ambedkar,” he said.

BJP MP Anurag Thakur said, “We have filed a complaint against Rahul Gandhi for physical assault and incitement. In the complaint, we have described in detail the incident which took place at Makar Dwar where NDA MPs were trying to expose the Congress’ propaganda. When security forces asked Rahul Gandhi and other INDI bloc MPs to take a designated path to enter Parliament, he expressed his anger and did not take that designated path. He started walking towards where NDA MPs were protesting.”

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to visit Delhi’s RML Hospital to inquire about the health of injured BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, said sources.

BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj said, “The attitude is not only indecent but it is also criminal and that is why we all have come here today (at the police station) and filed a complaint, where it has been clearly stated that the security forces repeatedly requested Rahul Gandhi that an alternative path has been made for you through which you can enter the Parliament in a very peaceful manner, but Rahul declined the request. Police has registered a case.” said.

On the current health condition of injured BJP MPs Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput, RML MS Dr Ajay Shukla said,” Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput had head injuries. Both have been given medication. Rajput ji’s blood pressure is still high. We are our doing best possible. Sarangi ji is an elderly person, and when there is pushing and shoving the BP could shoot up. This could lead to a heart arrest or stroke. Sarangi ji had been a cardiac patient. We are evaluating the situation.”

Union Minister Giriraj Singh said, “Has it ever happened before that MPs have been hospitalised like this? It can be said that they are trying to create an atmosphere of anarchy…”

BJP Rajya Sabha MP Phangnon Konyak said, “LoP Rahul Gandhi came close… I did not like it and he started shouting…Whatever happened today is very sad, this should not happen. We did not like the way they threatened…I have also complained to the Chairman…”

“A detailed discussion was held on the Constitution in Parliament and the way Congress’ history was presented agitated its members. “Rahul Gandhi was trying to go inside Parliament peacefully while holding BR Ambedkar’s photo…. who stopped him from entering the Parliament? You can see that we have been staging protests everyday but nothing like this has ever happened before but today, when they (BJP) held a protest for the first time all this is happening. They pushed (Congress president) Mallikarjun Kharge and he fell on the ground. He was visibly injured in the incident. They are doing all this to save (Union Home Minister) Amit Shah,” said Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

BJP MP Mukesh Rajput, who also gots injured, alleged that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi pushed him during a protest at the entry gate of the Parliament.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla visited RML hospital to see BJP MP Pratap Sarangi who was admitted there after being injured at Parliament.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju said, “Makar Dwar is the main entry gate of the Members of Parliament to both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. The Congress and their other MPs kept on standing in that particular location and they have been showing placards and sloganeering for the entire session. Today for the first time the NDA MPs went there to protest against the insult of Ambedkar by the Congress party since 1951…For the first time, the NDA MPs went there to protest. While the NDA MPs were protesting at the Makar Dwar, the main gate, the Congress MPs led by Rahul Gandhi came and assaulted, pushed two MPs of the BJP and pushed around other MPs also. Two of the BJP MPs Pratap Singh Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput have sustained grievous injury.” 

“Rahul Gandhi wants to spread anarchy in the House. The incident that happened with MP Pratap Sarangi is condemnable. He was pushed, he fell, and fainted, isn’t this hooliganism?” said Union Minister Giriraj Singh.

“I am going to hospital to see (Pratap) Sarangi and other MPs,” said Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan. Ruling NDA and the opposition INDIA bloc MPs took out separate protest marches over the Ambedkar issue and came face to face at the Makar Dwar of the Parliament House, leading to jostling in which BJP MP Pratap Sarangi was injured. He was taken to hospital with an injury on his forehead. BJP MPs alleged that Sarangi was pushed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

Congress MP Pramod Tiwari said, “The entire world has seen what Amit Shah has said. It was a live telecast. He is lying after that. This country can’t tolerate the insult to Babasaheb Ambedkar. Until Amit Shah resigns and apologises, will continue to raise our voice peacefully.”

LoP Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra alleged that Mallikarjun Kharge was manhandled at the Parliament.

“I was trying to go inside the Parliament. BJP MPs were trying to stop me. They were pushing and threatening me. Yes, they did it. It’s okay.. no.. nothing happens to us due to jostling. We have the right to go inside.. the BJP members were stopping us from entering the House,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on BJP MP Pratap Sarangi’s injury.

Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with other opposition MPs, staged a protest on the Parliament premises, demanding an apology and resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Dr BR Ambedkar.

BJP MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi, who was injured at the Parliament, said, “Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP who fell on me after which I fell down…I was standing near the stairs when Rahul Gandhi came and pushed an MP who then fell on me.”

Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, ahead of proceedings of the Parliament, said “The manner in which he (Home Minister Amit Shah) has insulted Babasaheb and after that this morning they tampered with Babasaheb’s photo on Twitter. This is a mind-set that vandalises the statue of Babasaheb. Who will trust them? They say that they do not want to end reservation, that they do not want to change the Constitution. They do not have the basic respect, he (Babasaheb Ambedkar) is the Constitution maker. You are saying this about him.” 

INDIA bloc held a protest march at the Babasaheb Ambedkar statue in the Parliament complex. They marched to Makar Dwar, demanding an apology and resignation of Union Home Minister Amit Shah over his remarks on Babasaheb Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha.

Congress held a meeting with its all Lok Sabha MPs at the main committee room, Parliament House Annexe ahead of the beginning of the proceedings. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi was seen in blue coloured t-shirt, expressing his support for the Ambedkar issue.
