Pakistan captain Babar Azam is on the verge of losing his ODI World No.1 spot as India sensation Shubman Gill has inched closer to him in the race for the top spot in the batters charts. Babar, who scored a fighting 74 in the losing cause against Afghanistan, has seen a dip in his rating points from 836 to 829. Meanwhile, Gill has accumulated more ratings after his 53-run outing against Bangladesh.

Gill now stands only a little away from Babar as he has 823 rating points after scoring a half-century in India’s win over the Bangla Tigers. He was 18 ratings behind last week at 818 but now sees a rise for that elusive spot. Meanwhile, Virat Kohli has also jumped three places to rank joint 5th alongside David Warner. Notably, Rohit Sharma has dropped a bit from the last week as he is now two places down in the 8th place.

Klaasen makes massive jump, Siraj in line to take his throne back

Notably, Heinrich Klaasen has made a huge jump in the batters’ chart. His jaw-dropping century against England and a brilliant 90-run outing against Bangladesh saw him move seven places up from 11th to 4th in the batters’ list. Klaasen is behind Babar, Gill and his countryman Quinton de Kock.

India’s bowling star Mohammed Siraj has closed in on reclaiming his ODI World No.1 throne. He is just 2 ratings away from Australia’s Josh Hazlewood at 668 rating points.

Indian and South African batters have been in some red-hot form in the tournament. Quinton de Kock has smashed three half-centuries in just five matches for his team and is the leading run-scorer after the SA vs BAN game. The Proteas wicket-keeper has 407 runs to his name in 5 innings. Whereas the Indians are not much behind. Virat Kohli has 354 runs in four innings and is closely followed by his captain Rohit Sharma, who has made 311 runs in as many outings.
