‘We live the Constitution and its spirit,’ says PM in Lok Sabha – India TV

Prime Minister Narendra Modi leaves the Lok Sabha after concluding his reply to the Motion of Thanks on President’s Address. NDA MPs greeted the PM after he concluded his reply to the House. The Parliament proceedings are adjourned for today.

PM Modi LS address concludes with highlighting the country’s vision for a “Viksit Bharat,” PM Modi said that the government would make every effort to realise the dream of a developed India by 2047. In a political jab at the opposition, he remarked, “This is only our third term. We will continue working in the years to come.”

A day after Congress leader Rahul Gandhi made remarks on India’s foreign policy and EAM S Jaishankar’s visit to the US in 2024 December, PM Modi said, “Some people feel they are not mature enough if they don’t talk about foreign policy, even at the cost of the nation.”

“Today when I look back, I feel very sad. We are late by 40-50 years; works that should have been done 40-50 years ago… and that is why, when people gave us the opportunity to serve them in 2014, we focused on the youth. We emphasised on the aspirations of the youth…” says PM Modi 

“Cancer patients have had to suffer. Lancet said some time ago that because of Ayushman Bharat, cancer treatment has begun early. It has given credit to the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Even in this budget, we have made cancer medicines cheaper,” PM Modi said. 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that while some people had chosen “tushtikaran (appeasement)”, his government had taken the path of “santushtikaran (satisfaction)”. “The real social justice, secularism and respect for constitution is 100 per cent saturation of schemes,” Modi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Lok Sabha address said that it was his government that started the Ayushman Bharat for the poor and elderly. “We started Ayushman Bharat for the poor, but some states have stalled the scheme, leaving poor people in hardship,” said PM Modi adding that in this year’s budget as well, the NDA government exempted essential medicines from customs duty.

PM Modi said, “Our government has worked to ensure that SCs, STs, and OBCs receive maximum opportunities in every sector. Today, I want to pose a question before the citizens of this country—one that will spark discussions not only in homes but also at public squares. Has there ever been a time when a single SC family had three MPs in Parliament simultaneously? Let me ask another question: Has there ever been a single ST family with three MPs in the same term?”

While saying that it had become “fashion for some people to talk about caste”, Prime Minister Narendra Modi added that for the past 30 to 35 years, Members of Parliament from across parties were demanding constitutional status for the OBC Commission. “Those who talk about it now did not remember it then, but we gave constitutional status to the OBC Commission,” Modi said.

PM Narendra Modi says, “Whenever the NDA government has been in power, we have worked with a long-term vision. Unfortunately, divisive language is being used to break the country. I don’t know where their desperation and frustration will lead them. But what does the NDA alliance think? What direction do we take? Our focus has always been on the marginalized and the last person in line, as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhi. That is why, even when we create ministries, we prioritize those who have been left behind…”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his reply to the Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address in Lok Sabha, said that his government had given the Muslim women their rights by ending ‘triple talaq’. “Those who walk with the constitution in their pocket do not know how they had compelled Muslim women to live a life full of trouble,” Modi said.

“A lot of fun was made of our cleanliness drive, as if we committed a crime…  what all was said. But today, I can say with satisfaction that in the recent years, we got Rs 2,300 crore by just selling the scrap from offices. Mahatma Gandhi used to talk about the principle of trusteeship, he said that we are trustee, and the property belongs to the public and so we try to save every penny and use it for the people,” says PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his reply to the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address in Lok Sabha, said that the NDA government had built a museum documenting all PMs. “You will find spaces in Delhi where some families have made their museums. What living by the constitution means is shown by the fact that we built the PM museum documenting every Prime Minister,” Modi said. The Prime Minister added that he would want family members of those PMs to visit the museum and give their suggestions. “This is the spirit of the constitution. It is easy to live for oneself, but the ones living for the constitution are sitting here,” Modi added.

Highlighting his government’s focus on double AI – “artificial intelligence and aspirational India” – Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that the NDA government had started 10,000 tinkering labs in the country. “This budget has made provision for 50000 new tinkering labs. The world is looking towards India on AI,” Modi said.

“Look at the misfortune of the country, how were the governments run, for whom were they run… (amid opposition uproar)… When the fever is high, people say anything, but also when people are too frustrated and disappointed, they also they say a lot of things. Those who were not even born in India, they were benefitting from different government schemes. To make sure that there is no injustice done to the innocent, we did not care for political gains and losses, and removed those fake 10 crore names and started the initiative to take the schemes to genuine beneficiaries,” says PM Modi 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that in 2014, the leader of the second largest was invited to the meetings, despite there being no official Opposition at the time. “In 2014, there was no official opposition. Yet it was our commitment to the constitution, we decided that the leader of the second biggest party would be invited to meetings. This is the spirit of the constitution,” Modi said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi lashed out at the Opposition, including AAP, and alleged that some parties were fooling and betraying the youth. Invoking the ‘AAP-da’ (disaster) acronym, he alleged these parties did not do anything for the youth.

“The country gave us opportunity and we made efforts towards finding resolution… Our model is ‘Bachat Bhi Vikas Bhi’, people’s money for the people. We started Jan Dhan, Aadhaar… and direct benefit transfer. During our tenure, we have transferred Rs 40 crore directly to the accounts of the people,” says PM Modi

Targeting Congress MP Rahul Gandhi over his pitch to use AI for caste census, PM Modi said, “Some people find AI as an amusing term.” For the NDA government, AI is artificial intelligence, and the other meaning of the term is “aspiring India,” said PM Modi.

“We have made more than 12 crore toilets to ease the lives of women… These days, there is a lot of discussion in media and social media, some leaders are focused on jacuzzi and stylish showers in their houses, but our focus is to ensure ‘Haar Ghar Jal’. After 75 years of Independence, nearly 16 crore households did not have tap connection for water. Our government provided ‘Nal Se Jal’ to 12 crore households in five years,” says PM Modi

PM Modi said that in the last 10 years, income tax has been lowered, benefiting the middle class. He also highlighted that before 2014, tax slabs were burdensome for the people, with the slab in 2013 set at Rs 2 lakh, whereas it is now set at Rs 12 lakh.

PM Modi mentioned that a previous Prime Minister (Rajiv Gandhi) often spoke about the 21st century, and at that time, RK Lakshman created a cartoon depicting a plane with a pilot and passengers on a cart, being pushed by labourers. “What was once humour has now become a reality,” he said.

PM Narendra Modi says, “Before we came to power, LED bulbs were sold at Rs 400. We conducted such drives that the prices came down to Rs 40. LED bulbs helped conserve energy…This also saved around Rs 20,000 Crores of the people of the country.”

“Earlier, the headlines of the newspapers used to be related to scams and corruption. Ten years have passed crores of rupees have been saved which has been used for the public. We have taken several steps which have saved a lot of money, but we have not used that money to build a ‘sheeshmahal’. Instead, we have used that money to build the nation,” he said in the Lok Sabha.

 “When people connected to the ground, knowing the ground reality, and spend their lives on the ground, then change on the ground is certain. We did not give fake slogans to the poor, we have given true development. One cannot understand poor’s agony, problems of the common man, dreams of the middle class just like that… it needs passion. And I am sad to say this that some people don’t this in them at all,” says PM Modi

We have used people’s money to build a nation, not any ‘Sheesh Mahal’: PM Modi targets Arvind Kejriwal in Lok Sabha. Speaking on his government’s ‘Har Ghar Jal Mission’, PM Modi in a dig at the opposition, said, “some people focus on jacuzzi, stylish showers, but we focus on getting water to every house (Har ghar jal)”

Those who were not born on the soil of India, such 10 crore fake people were taking advantage of various schemes from the government treasury. We removed fake names without caring about political gains and losses: PM in Lok Sabha 

PM Modi said, “There was a Prime Minister known as Mr Clean, who highlighted the issue that when 1 rupee leaves Delhi, only 15 paisa reaches the villages. Back then, one party ruled from Panchayat to Parliament, with the common man easily understanding where the 15 paisa went.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his “boring” remark on President Droupadi Murmu’s joint address to Parliament last month. “Those who do enjoy doing photo sessions in the huts of the poor, find the speech about the poor in Parliament boring,” PM Modi said.

In a jibe at AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal over the ‘sheeshmahal’ row, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his Lok Sabha address, without naming him, said some leaders focussed on jacuzzi and stylish showers, while his government focused on providing water to every household.

During his address in Lok Sabha, PM Modi said, “For five decades, you heard slogans of poverty eradication, but now, 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty. When schemes are implemented with dedication, a sense of belonging, and deep sensitivity, this transformation happens.” “People who are connected to the ground, who understand its realities, and dedicate their lives to it, inevitably bring about change. We did not just give empty slogans to the poor; we delivered real development. Understanding the struggles of the poor, the hardships of the common man, and the challenges of the middle class requires genuine commitment. And, sadly, I must say that some people simply do not have it,” he added.

PM Narendra Modi says, “We are in 2025. In a way, 25% of the 21st century has gone by. Only time will decide what happened after independence in the 20th century and the first 25 years of the 21st century. But if we minutely study the Presidenr’s Addrees, it is clear that she spoke about building trust among people regarding the coming 25 years and Viksit Bharat. Her Address strengthens the resolve of Viksit Bharat, builds new confidence and inspires the common people.”

Replying in Lok Sabha to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address, PM Modi says: “Yesterday and today, all the honourable members expressed their views on Motion of Thanks. It is natural and a tradition of democracy, there was praise where required and some negative things were also said where there was some problem…”

I am very fortunate that the people of the country have given me the opportunity for the 14th time to reply to Motion of Thanks on President’s Address. So, I respectfully express gratitude to the people: PM Modi in Lok Sabha.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is replying to the motion of thanks on the President’s address in the Lok Sabha. The discussion in Lok Sabha began on Monday as the ruling National Democratic Alliance members highlighted the achievements of the government, while opposition MPs sought to put it in dock over a host of issues.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply in Lok Sabha at around 5 pm on Tuesday to the discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the President’s Address. Modi’s office said, “PM Narendra Modi will be speaking in the Lok Sabha at around 5 PM this evening.” The discussion began on Monday as the ruling National Democratic Alliance members highlighted the achievements of the government, while opposition MPs sought to put it in a dock over a host of issues.

BJP MP Nishikant Dubey wrote to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, requesting him to initiate privilege proceedings against Leader of Opposition and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his speech in the Lower House. Dubey said that Gandhi, in his speech, “not only shamelessly distorted the historical and substantive facts, but also made an attempt to ridicule our country and lower the prestige of our Republic”.

 BJP MP Hema Malini says “…We went to Kumbh, we had a very nice bath. It is right that an incident took place, but it was not a very big incident. I don’t know how big it was. It is being exaggerated…It was very well-managed, and everything was done very well…So many people are coming, it is very difficult to manage but we are doing our best…”

“Shri Rahul Gandhi in his speech in Parliament on 03 February 2025 made false allegations about the statement of the Army Chief on the situation on the India-China border. The Army Chief’s remarks referred only to the disturbance of traditional patrolling by both sides. He also mentioned that these practices have been restored to their traditional pattern as part of the recent disengagement. Government has shared these details in Parliament,” Union Defence minister said.

The Chairman of the Waqf JPC Jagdambika Pal on Tuesday responded to AIMIM Chief Asaduddin Owaisi’s remarks on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill and said that when the new Bill comes, it will benefit the poor Muslims, Pasmandas and widows. “When Article 370 was discussed, Mehbooba Mufti had said that rivers of blood would flow. The way Triple Talaq Bill benefited, similarly, when the new Waqf Bill comes, it will also lead to benefits,” Pal said. He further added, “Owaisi himself has been part of the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC), participating in meetings, amendments were passed through voting, the report was adopted, and even dissent notes were taken.”

Fourth day of the parliament Budget session began at 11 am today with the question hour in Lok Sabha and zero hour in Rajya Sabha. The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha witnessed fiery debates and the session’s legislative agenda has 16 Bills, including the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, and the Immigration and Foreigners Bill.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to reply to the Motion of Thanks to President’s address in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday on day four of the of the Budget session of the Parliament. The Budget session began on January 31 and will continue in two parts, with the first part concluding on February 13.
