Former Union minister Sharad Pawar on Tuesday dismissed Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s remarks that the BJP’s victory in the Maharashtra assembly polls ended the politics of betrayal started by Pawar in 1978. NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar in a press conference said Union Minister Amit Shah to maintain ‘decorum of Home Minister’s post’. Amit Shah slammed Pawar during his speech on Sunday at a state BJP convention in the temple town of Shirdi.

“I was the chief minister in 1978. I am not aware of his whereabouts then,” Pawar told the media in Mumbai. “When I was the chief minister, there were people like Uttamrao Patil from Jan Sangh in my ministry,” Pawar added. Launching a scathing attack on Shah, he said “This country has seen many excellent home ministers, but none of them was externed from his state.”

‘Despite ideological differences, their hard work can’t be ignored’: Pawar

On RSS, Pawar said that he doesn’t support their ideology but their hardworking style can’t be ignored. He said, “I had said that many people work in many political parties, they have a policy of working, they work on the basis of the policy and no one supports their ideology, but the strength they have in working hard cannot be ignored.”

MVA future for local body polls

Clearing the fog over the future of MVA amid speculations regarding local body elections in the past few days, Pawar said, “I.N.D.I.A bloc’s interest is on national issues. Our colleagues believe that Maha Vikas Aghadi should fight the local body elections together. We will hold a meeting on this issue in the next ten days.”

Sharad Pawar on Delhi Assembly elections

Sharad Pawar also extended support to former Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for the upcoming assembly polls. He said, “My feeling is that if we can help Kejriwal then we should help him but we will talk to Congress in confidence about this.”
