Rs 2,000 notes update: RBI data shows Rs 6,266 crore still in circulation

According to official data of the Reserve Bank of India, Rs 2,000 notes worth Rs 6,266 crore are still in circulation. It is worth mentioning that the central bank announced the withdrawal of the Rs 2,000 notes two years ago.
However, the Rs 2000 banknotes continue to be legal tender.
On May 19, 2023, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced the withdrawal of Rs 2000 denomination banknotes from circulation.
