In a message released by the Railway Board, officials have been alerted that Pakistani operatives may pose as callers seeking confidential details regarding military train movements.
Amid heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in the aftermath of Operation Sindoor, the Ministry of Railways has issued a key advisory to its personnel, warning them of possible attempts by Pakistani intelligence agencies to extract sensitive military-related information.
In a message released by the Railway Board, officials have been alerted that Pakistani operatives may pose as callers seeking confidential details regarding military train movements. “Pakistani intelligence agencies may attempt to contact railway officials to obtain sensitive information about military trains,” the message stated.
The advisory strictly instructs all railway personnel to refrain from sharing such data with any unauthorised individuals. “Any disclosure of information to unauthorised persons, other than designated military railway staff, will be treated as a breach of security and considered a serious threat to national safety,” the Railway Board emphasised.
It is important to note that the Military Railway is a specialised wing of Indian Railways responsible for providing logistical support to the armed forces during operations, making it a vital link in the country’s defence infrastructure. Notably, Railway officials have also been asked to remain alert, follow strict communication protocols, and report any suspicious contact immediately.
Airports issue advisories
Earlier on Wednesday, several airports in India also issued advisories for travellers after India carried out precise strikes overnight against nine targets in Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) to take down terror infrastructure. They also advised travellers to check their flight status before starting their journey. IndiGo said it has cancelled more than 165 flights from various domestic airports, including Amritsar and Srinagar, till early morning of May 10 due to airspace restrictions. The airline also said that passengers whose flights are affected can reschedule the booking on the next available flight or opt to cancel their bookings at no additional cost, and a full refund will be processed. IndiGo operates around 2,200 flights daily.
Operation Sindoor
It should be noted here that Operation Sindoor, executed between 1:05 am and 1:30 am on Wednesday, involved a coordinated effort by the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, targeting key facilities like the JeM and LeT bases in Pakistan as well as PoK. India’s military action came days after the Pahalgam terror attack which had claimed the lives on 26 innocent people on April 22. This was termed as one of the biggest terror attacks after the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019. JeM chief Maulana Masood Azhar acknowledged that 10 members of his family and four close associates were killed in India’s missile attack.
