New Delhi:

India’s star Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra scripted history at the Doha Diamond League. Competing against the likes of Anderson Peters, Julian Weber and many more accomplished athletes, Chopra nailed his third throw, breaching the 90m mark as he registered a 90.23m throw.

It is worth noting that this was Chopra’s career-best figures, and for his incredible achievement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to congratulate Neeraj for his accomplishment.

“A spectacular feat! Congratulations to Neeraj Chopra for breaching the 90 m mark at Doha Diamond League 2025 and achieving his personal best throw. This is the outcome of his relentless dedication, discipline and passion. India is elated and proud,” PM Modi posted on X.

Despite the massive 90.23M throw, Neeraj Chopra had to settle for second place in the event as he was bested by Julian Weber soon after. The German international registered a mammoth throw of 91.06M which ended up being the winner.

It is interesting to note that the winning throw was Weber’s first 90+ throw as well; he became the 26th Javelin thrower to achieve the feat. Furthermore, third place in the event belonged to Grenada’s Anderson Peters, who registered a high of 84.65M.

As for Neeraj Chopra, the 27-year-old kicked off the proceedings with a throw of 88.44m, followed by a foul attempt, and then went on to breach the 90m mark. He became the third Asian and the 25th Javelin thrower to achieve the feat, and despite not coming in first, the star athlete would be mighty proud of the effort he put in the event.

Furthermore, his next event comes when he competes in the 71st ORLEN Janusz Kusociński Memorial event in Chorzow, Poland, on May 23, where he will once again take on the likes of Julian Webers and Anderson Peters in the event.
