The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede is in the news again for arresting Bollywood‘s superstar Shah Rukh Khan‘s son Aryan Khan and 7 others on a drug raid at a cruise party in Mumbai.
Wankhede is a Mumbaikar by birth who is known as Mumbai’s ‘Singham‘ for his daring operations against the drug mafia in the city. But do you think working in the Narcotics Department and fighting against the drug mafia is an easy task? NO, says Marathi actress Kranti Redkar, wife of Sameer Wankhede. While speaking exclusively ETimes, Kranti Redkar said “I have seen blood on his pants, sometimes his clothes are ripped and I am sure that people are not aware of these things. I never asked him where he went and what he did. But doing a raid and fighting against the drug mafia is not an easy task”
“Ever after this, people don’t appreciate their work. I feel that there is no gratitude. If people are not even grateful then why is he doing this? It’s a kind of thankless job. But now things are changed. I must say that the entire media and people have supported the team for their work” Kranti added.
In 2020, Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede and his team of five officers were attacked by a group of drug peddlers. Reacting to it, Kranti said “I think this is not the first time, there were so many attacks. There were cracks on his body and his arms were bruised. So when I ask him, he replied “Aise Hi Thodi Na Criminals Ko Pakdete Hai Hum”
She further elaborated “There are so many threats and it’s very risky. So, we only step out during our work. We can’t even move out freely with our children, it is really scary. I think this is a part and parcel of this job. But I am very proud of him”
