Sandalwood got to witness a shocking news on Monday evening as noted Kannada film producer Ramu succumbed to Covid-19. He was being treated at M S Ramaiah Hospital in Bengaluru, where he breathed his last. Ramu was married to Kannada film superstar Malashree. They have two children.
Ramu had been active in the film industry for nearly 3 decades and has made over 30 films in that period. He made his debut with the hit action film Golibar in 1993. Ramu has since made a lot of films with some of the reigning stars of the time through his career that spanned nearly 30 years.
His filmography includes some of the biggest cult hits of many actors which includes AK 47, Chamundi, Kiccha, Kalasipalya and Gulama. His last release in Kannada was the Ganesh and Bhavana starrer 99, which was the remake of the hit Tamil film 96.
His career also saw him team up with wife Malashree for some of the most loved action thrillers of the latter and most of these films went on to become cult hits at the box office.
The film industry took to their social media to share their condolences and remembered the filmmaker as one of the kindest and most soft spoken individuals that they have come across in the film industry. Due to the current guidelines and restrictions because of the pandemic, none of them could pay their last visit to the producer to offer their respects and tributes to him and the family.
