The Mumbai Crime Branch has been extensively investigating Raj Kundra’s involvement in an alleged porn production case, while he is in police custody. In a recent development, several new allegations have been leveled against Raj Kundra. According to mid-day, Arvind Srivastava alias Yash Thakur, who is an absconding accused and was named as the racket’s kingpin in March, had emailed a complaint to the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in the same month, alleging that Kundra paid bribe of Rs 25 lakh to Crime Branch sleuths. Yash has alleged that Raj Kundra did the same to avoid getting arrested in the case. The ACB had reportedly forwarded it to the Mumbai police chief’s office in April and the city officers have refused to comment on the same.
Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19 for his alleged role in production of porn films, he was sent to police custody till July 23. The crime branch has raided his house and has recovered 70 videos shot by Kundra’s former PA Umesh Kamat with the help of different production houses. According to TOI, the police have stated that Raj Kundra is not revealing much during the questioning.
Post Raj Kundra’s arrest, his Kundra’s lawyer objected to the application of Section 67A of the Information Technology Act on sending obscene content in electronic form along with other sections with respect to pornography as these laws consider “actual intercourse” as porn and the rest everything is termed as vulgar content. The lawyer further said that the cops are following what web shows are working these days – vulgar content. However, it is not classified as porn.
