AAP has decided not to contest the Delhi mayoral election on April 25 due to a lack of numbers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), where BJP holds a majority. With control over the Centre, Delhi, and MCD, the BJP is set to establish a “triple-engine government.”
New Delhi:
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided not to contest the upcoming mayoral election in Delhi. The election is scheduled for April 25, and today is the last day for filing nominations.
AAP announced it will not field a candidate for the mayor’s post as the party currently lacks the numbers in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), where the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) holds a majority.
With this, the BJP is set to establish a “triple-engine government” in Delhi — with control over the Centre, the Delhi administration, and now the MCD as well.
