Rajasthan Royals are sort of losing their way in the ongoing season of the IPL having won just two games and lost four. Royals just haven’t been good enough with bat or ball and even though it might be down to their auction, they have players to win games but are yet to turn up in a big way.
Delhi Capitals will hope that it was just a blip and bad luck as they were unable to finish the game against the Mumbai Indians at the Arun Jaitley Stadium and rectify their mistakes as they will be in action once again a couple of days later against the Rajasthan Royals. The Royals haven’t been themselves, having won just two games out of the six they have played so far. It might be down to their auction but they have players to win games, who haven’t just turned up yet in a big way.
The Royals snailed their way to 173 on a wicket that was two-paced in Jaipur but RCB chased them down quite comfortably. The Royals batters will enjoy the Delhi wicket but their bowlers have been leaking runs and would have to close that tap if they have to get the two points against the Capitals, who have been largely impressive.
The Capitals’ biggest concern will be Jake Fraser-McGurk’s form. Faf du Plessis is likely to miss a couple of more games and hence, Fraser-McGurk might get a few more opportunities but if KL Rahul doesn’t perform, the Delhi middle-order can be vulnerable, which the Mumbai Indians exposed the other night. They might have to look for Harry Brook’s replacement after all and get an overseas middle-order batter, who can do the job in the latter half of the innings. The bowling is mostly taken care of but captain Axar Patel has to come up with the goods. He is yet to take a wicket this season.
