Tata Motors today launched the updated Tigor EV sedan to the Indian market at a starting price of Rs 12.49 lakh. The updated Tigor gets additional features, a longer range and the introduction of two new variants.
Now first let’s talk about the powertrain, battery and range. The updated Tigor EV will continue to be powered by the same electric motor as the outgoing model. The EV is powered by a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor which produces 75 bhp and 170Nm of torque. Tata claims that the electric sedan can sprint from 0 to 60kph in 5.7 seconds.
Talking about the battery pack, the motor is paired with a 26kWh lithium-ion unit with IP67 water and dust-proofing standards. Tata says that the EV can be charged from 0 per cent to 80 per cent in just 60 minutes.
The biggest update here is the range of 315km – 9km more than the outgoing model.
Now let’s talk about additional features, the updated Tigor EV borrows many features from Nexon EV max and Prime. The EV gets four-level regen braking similar to Nexon EV where Level 0 cuts off regeneration and at Level 3 it is at its strongest.
The EV also features automatic brake lamp activation, which switches the brake lights during regeneration. Other features include cruise control, an indirect tyre pressure monitoring system via the smartphone app, and smartwatch-integrated connectivity features.
