Toyota Kirloskar Motor today finally unveiled its new Innova Hycross in the Indian market. There were rumours that the Hycross will replace the Innova Crysta MPV upon launch. Today, the brand has officially confirmed that the Innova Crysta with diesel engine will remain on sale and its bookings will start soon.
In August 2022, Toyota stopped taking bookings for the Innova Crysta diesel. The company said that the brand ceased bookings owing to the high demand and elevated waiting period. Furthermore, the supply chain issues were also one of the reasons.
However, now Toyota is all set to re-introduce the Innova Crysta in the Indian market with a diesel engine only. Mechanically, the Toyota Innova Crysta will make use of a 2.4-litre diesel engine, generating a max power of 148 bhp and a peak torque of 360 Nm. Transmission options include a five-speed manual and six-speed torque-convertor automatic gearbox.
The Toyota Innova Crysta will be a diesel-only model, while the new Innova Hycross will be offered in petrol and petrol strong-hybrid engine options. Engine options include a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder petrol engine with CVT and a TNGA 2.0-litre 4-cylinder hybrid petrol engine and an electric motor, mated to e-CVT unit.
