MG Motor India is all set to launch its second electric EV, the MG Air in the Indian market in 2023. After the MG ZS EV, the company is entering into the hatchback segment with the MG Air EV that is expected to do exceptionally well for MG. Ahead of its official launch, here are top five things to know about the upcoming MG Air electric hatchback. Read on.
MG Air EV: Dimensions
Featuring a boxy shape, the three-door MG Air EV will measure 2.9 meters in length. The electric car will have a wheelbase of 2,010 mm and spacious interior.
MG Air EV: Range
The MG Air EV range will be equipped with an LFP-cell battery (sourced from Tata Autocomp) that will have a capacity of 20-25 kWh. According to various media sources, the MG Air EV will offer a iCAT-certified range of 200-300 km. In terms of powertrain, the electric car is likely to make use of a single front-axle motor that will produce a peak power of 68 hp.
MG Air EV: Interior
In terms of interior, the MG Air EV will come equipped with a 10.25-inch dual-screen infotainment system similar to the Mercedes GLA. Following a dual-tone interior, the electric car will feature connected car technology, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and voice commands. It is likely to have a sunroof too.
MG Air EV: Expected Price
The MG ZS EV will rival the likes of the Tata Tiago EV that was launched at a price point of Rs 8.49 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) in September 2022. The MG electric hatchback is likely to be priced around Rs 10 lakh. This will be the second electric car from MG that will be ideal for long-distance travel as well, claims the company.

MG Air EV: Launch Date
MG Motor recently confirmed that the Air EV will launch in the Indian market in early 2023, however not revealed the exact date. After a 3-year hiatus, the Auto Expo is ready to make a comeback on January 13, 2023, at India Expo Mart, Greater Noida.
MG Motor will assemble the Air EV in India and have plans of over 60% localisation and making it priced competitively. The company is working to produce 700 EVs per month and will increase the capacity in 2023.
