Kia has updated the Seltos compact SUV for the 2024MY in United States. The Seltos facelift has made its debut at the ongoing 2022 Los Angeles Auto Show with a range of changes on the outside, inside, as well as under the hood.
Talking about the exterior design, the new Seltos gets a larger ‘Tiger Nose’ grille up front, with slightly redesigned headlamps on either side with the new angular LED DRL light now merging into the grille. The side profile of the SUV is untouched, albeit the inclusion of brand new alloy wheels. At the rear, the Seltos facelift gets new LED tail lights that are joined together, running across the width of the tailgate. The SUV has been showcased in its new Pluton Blue paint scheme.
On the inside, the updated Seltos gets a redesigned ‘panoramic’ display featuring two 10.25-inch screens – the infotainment unit as well as the instrument cluster. The US-spec model was previously offered with a free-standing infotainment system, whereas the Seltos sold in India gets a conjoined setup. Kia has also revealed that a new X-Line trim will also be added to the line-up. The Seltos X-Line in India is offered with a matte grey paint scheme, larger 18-inch alloy wheels and orange accents all around.
Kia offers the Seltos in the US with a 1.6-litre T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine, which will now be tuned to produce 195 hp – an increment of 20 hp over the outgoing version. This engine will be available with an 8-speed automatic gearbox as standard. There will also be a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated MPI petrol engine, producing 146 hp and 179 Nm, mated to an IVT auto. Just like its predecessor, the US-spec 2024 Seltos will be offered with an optional all-wheel drive configuration.
The Kia Seltos facelift is expected to make its debut in India next year, and while we expect most of these changes to be brought to the Indian version of the SUV, it will continue to be offered with the current engine line-up consisting of a 1.5-litre NA petrol motor, a 1.5-litre diesel unit, as well as a 1.4-litre turbo petrol mill. Kia might also go on to introduce ADAS tech for the 2023 Seltos in India, along with some additional connected features.
The Kia Seltos can be attributed for revolutionising the mid-size SUV segment in India upon its arrival back in 2019. The segment now hosts a range of other competitive offerings like the Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara as well as the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
