The AX(O) trim ranges between Rs 11.90 lakh – Rs 12.20 lakh (ex-showroom) and the LX trim ranges between Rs 12.49 lakh – Rs 12.95 lakh (ex-showroom). With the standard AX trim gone, the customers now will not be able to opt for a 6-seater Thar that came with a soft-top alone.
The AX(O) trim is only offered with a manual transmission and comes with either the convertible top or hardtop. It features HVAC, central locking, front-facing rear seats, 4WD, dual airbags, ABS, and intellipark feature. Apart from all the features of the AX (O) trim, the LX features a touchscreen infotainment system, DRLs, alloy wheels, roll cage, and ESP.
Both the AX(O) and LX trims are offered with 2 engine options- 2.2-litre mHawk130 diesel engine and 2-litre mStallion150 TGDi petrol engine. The diesel unit offers 130 PS of power with 300 Nm of torque while the petrol unit offers 150 PS of power and 320 Nm of torque.
Mahindra’s move to phase out the entry-level trim comes after the Thar registered 20,000 bookings and the waiting period increased by at least 6 months. Mahindra also announced that the production of the Thar has been ramped up.
