

BMW recently teased the upcoming i5 all-electric sedan for the first time at its annual conference 2023. The 8th-gen 5 Series will be accompanied by its electric version, the i5 that will be launch in the first half of 2024 globally.
The teaser image shows the similar silhouette with illuminated DRLs beneath the drapes with a caption, “boasts a fresh interpretation of its signature elegantly sporting design’’.
The luxury carmaker is working to launch the 8th-gen BMW 5 Series in the international market in October 2023. Apart from the i5 version, the next-gen BMW 5 Series will also be available in petrol diesel, mild-hybrid and plug-in hybrid powertrain options.
Dimensionally, the upcoming BMW 5 Series will be bigger than the predecessor. On the inside, the 8th-gen BMW 5 Series will get a new Operating System 8.5 with curved displays for the infotainment system and digital driver’s display. Under the hood, the BMW i5 electric sedan is expected to share the powertrain with the BMW i4 M50i, states the carmaker.

Powering the all-electric BMW i5 is likely to be a bigger battery than the i4 that will offer a range of 590 km (WLTP). The next-gen BMW 5 Series will be launched globally in October 2023, followed by its India launch. We expect the BMW i5 electric sedan will mark its way in the Indian market as well.
Currently, the BMW 5 Series is priced from Rs 65.40 lakh to Rs 74.50 lakh (both prices are ex-showroom) in India, The 8th-gen BMW 5 Series will cost more as compared to the old-gen 5 Series.
