Mercedes-Benz has revealed the top-of-the-line high-performance AMG version of the W206 C-Class. Known as the Mercedes-AMG C63 S E Performance, the car is equipped with a new 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that replaces the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 unit that was seen on the previous iteration of the C63 AMG.
Available in both sedan and estate forms, the 2024 AMG C63 S E Performance is equipped with the most powerful four-cylinder engine on any production car in the world. The hybrid powertrain has a combined power output of 680 hp, and a peak torque rating of 1020 Nm, and is mated to a 9-speed AMG Speedshift gearbox.
Mercedes-Benz claims that the saloon and estate versions of the new C 63 can accelerate from a standstill to 100 km/h in just 3.4 seconds, before topping out at an electronically limited top speed of 280 km/h.
The 204 hp electric motor is positioned at the rear axle, where it is integrated with an electrically shifted two-speed gearbox and the electronically controlled limited-slip rear differential. The lightweight AMG high-performance battery is also located in the rear above the rear axle. The C 63 S E Performance gets the AMG 4MATIC+ fully variable all-wheel drive system, as well as an active rear axle steering that improves stability and handling.
What’s more, the high-performance car also has an all-electric range of 13 km. The car gets 8 driving modes – Electric, Comfort, Battery Hold, Sport, Sport+, Race, Slippery and Individual.
Talking about the design, the car is wider and longer than the C-Class, which gives it a stretched and muscular look, thanks to the extensively modified AMG bodyshell. The C 63 S sits on 19‑inch AMG light-alloy wheels, with 20-inch optional wheels also available.
