India Kawasaki Motor is set to launch the 2022 Kawasaki Ninja 400 in India soon, made rather apparent by a recent teaser that the company posted on a social media platform. Expected to go on sale in the next few weeks, the Ninja 400 had been off the market since the introduction of stricter BS-VI emission norms. Earlier on, it was available only in limited numbers.
Already available in the international markets, the Ninja 400 will come powered by a 399cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine that puts out 44 bhp and 37 Nm of torque. In its BS-VI version, the engine has not lost power and the torque figure is down only by 1 Nm. The transmission in the same six-speed gearbox assisted by a slipper clutch.

Besides this change to the engine, the motorcycle remains identical the it previous version. It boasts Ninja H2-inspired design and styling with sharp lines and a twin-pod headlamp and turn indicators integrated in the fairing. It gets a spilt sports-style seat, a 14-litre fuel tank muscularly sculptured, a side-slung exhaust with dual-tone finish, and a sporty livery.
The Ninja 400 is sold in two colour options internationally – Lime Green with Ebony (KRT Edition) and Metallic Carbon Gray with Metallic Matte Carbon Gray. Expect a price tag upwards of Rs 5 lakh (ex-showroom). In terms of power and performance figures, the Ninja 400 will rival the likes of KTM RC 390. Besides the Ninja 400, Kawasaki India is also preparing to launch the new Kawasaki Versys 650 in India.
