Bengaluru-based startup Ather Energy today launched its 2022 Ather 450X electric scooter in India at Rs 155,657 (ex-showroom, Banglore). The company also announced that it has expanded its retail footprint to 36 cities with 41 retail stores and further plans to expand to 150 experience centres in 100 cities by 2023.

2022 450X 3 is now equipped with a bigger 3.7 kWh in place of a 2.6kWh unit. The company also said that the battery is also 25% larger than the previous generation and Ather claims an ARAI-certified range of 146 kilometres and a TrueRangeTM of 105km.
The new generation 450X also comes with wider rear tyres and Ather claims that the electric scooter has an improved 22% better grip in all weather conditions. Ather is also offering a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) as an additional accessory.
Talking about the features, the new-gen 450X now gets an updated dashboard with a 7.0-inch instrumental screen and 2 GB of Ram in place of 1 GB. Due to the upgraded ram, the company said that this would greatly enhance the performance of memory-intensive applications and will unlock several features for the future like voice commands, multi-language support, heavier graphics, deeper diagnostics, and more.
Other features include front and rear disc brakes with regen, 12-inch alloy wheels, a telescopic fork, 22 litres of boot space, and a belt drive system.
The new gen 450X also gets newly designed rear view mirrors that are claimed to offer 2X better visibility and 5X in reliability. With the third-gen, Ather also has introduced a new side step made of single-cast aluminium.
The 2022 Ather 450X and 450 Plus e-scooters compete against the Ola S1 and S1 Pro, SimpleEnergy’s SimpleOne electric scooters. Other popular electric scooters in the country include the Bajaj Chetak E-scooter and several Chinese brands.
