

Papankusha Ekadashi Vrat 2020 will be observed on Tuesday, October 27. Ekadashi is the eleventh lunar day (tithi) of each of the two lunar phases which occur in Hindu calendar month. According to Hindu religion, the Ekadashi Vrat is observed to cleanse the body, aid repair and rejuvenation. During Ekadashi fast, devotees avoid high protein and carbohydrate-containing foods and instead eat only fruit, vegetables, and milk products.
There are a total of 24 Ekadasis in a Hindu calendar year. Occasionally, there are two extra Ekadasis that occur in a leap year. Each Ekadasi is said to have particular benefits.

The Ekadashi that falls in the Ashwin Shukla Paksha is known as Papankusha Ekadashi. The devotees worship Lord Vishnu on the day of Ekadashi. It’s said that those who do Ekadashi fast attain Moksha (liberation from the cycle of birth, death and rebirth).
