A day before Maharashtra goes to polls, Bharatiya Janata Party’s general secretary Vinod Tawde has been accused of distributing cash to voters. This allegation has been made on Tawde by Bahujan Vikas Aghadi. BVA has alleged that BJP leader Tawde has distributed money to voters in Thane. However, the BJP leader has rejected these allegations. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) workers raised slogans and accused Tawde of distributing Rs 5 crore in cash. Amidst the uproar, police officers also reached the hotel and tried to handle the situation. Interestingly, Rs 9 lakh was recovered from room number 406 of the hotel where Tawde was present.
‘If the Election Commission wants, it can get it investigated’
Bahujan Vikas Aghadi leaders have demanded an investigation into Tawde’s vehicle. MVA leader and MLA Kshitij Thakur claimed that Tawde’s diary confirms the transaction. Tawde’s father Hitendra Thakur claimed that the BJP leader called him several times and apologized. At the same time, BJP leader Tawde rejected all the allegations outright. He said, ‘I was not distributing money. “I had gone to explain the rules of the code of conduct. If the Election Commission wants, it can get the investigation done. If the police wants, it can get the CCTV footage investigated.”
Uddhav Thackeray reacts
Shiv Sena UBT chief Uddhav Thackeray said, “When I was coming to visit Maa Tulja Bhavani, the Election Commission officials checked my bag. However, they did not find anything. Now it has come to light that money has been found in Vinod Tawde’s bag. Yesterday also, when Anil Deshmukh was attacked, an investigation should have been done to find out where the stones came from. I pray to Maa Tulja Bhavani that this corrupt and terror-spreading government should be uprooted from the state.”
